Before I get started on this blog post I wanted to let you know that firstly, I absolutely LOVE clothes shopping. I actually like to think I’m a bit of a shopaholic actually that needs to be stopped, but clothes shopping in real life, in shops, just isn’t my cup of tea AT ALL.
Clothes shopping IRL is a CHORE
Especially over the past couple of years, I just find going clothes shopping in real life such a chore. Especially on a Saturday, town is just HORRIBLE and just drives me further and further to online shopping. The queues and QUEUES of people that all decide to come to town on the weekend just stresses me out so much. I’d much rather just scroll through the endless databases of clothes from the comfort of my own home then dodge people and pushchairs and possibly miss pieces because there are so many people wandering around.
As much as I love Primark too, going there on the weekend is just HAVOC. Absolute havoc. I can’t imagine what the new one in Birmingham with five floors is like on the peak days. Although obviously I’d love to go when I have a couple of hundred pounds to spend because Primark is my second bae after Guy, and I could easily spend a fortune up in there sometimes.
Shop the look!
So what is it about clothes shopping in real life that I hate?
The first problem I have is that some shops won’t ever have enough sizes in store – ok so I’m quite a common size (10/12) and the majority of the time shops will have my size, but shopping ONLINE saves that disappointment! There’s ASOS, Nasty Gal, Pretty Little Thing, BooHoo… The list of cheap and cheerful online clothing companies are endless right now and have so many products to scroll through in the comfort of your own home. So instead of getting people rage which just puts me in a savage mood I can chill out and just wait for my clothes to arrive. Coming back to the high street shopping experience, do you ever find there will ALWAYS be people who are roaming around at 0.5 mph and I just want to make revving noises at them to get their arses moving – then I realise that I am a human being and need to calm my shit.

You’ve probably already heard of Klarna (AKA what started my shopping addiction) but if you haven’t, its a service that allows you to buy products and pay for them like a month later. Yeah it sounds bloody brilliant, right? Until you forget about it and get that email reminding you to pay for your orders. LOL. But this is just another reason why I prefer shopping online! We’ve made it so easy to shop online now and its so accessible, so I can see why the high street is struggling these past couple of years! I could scroll through Nasty Gal or BooHoo in the afternoon and then it can get delivered to your door the next day if you choose that delivery option. SO. ACCESSIBLE.
There’s also Depop and other clothing apps which is where I like to get some of my clothes from as a lot of other fashion bloggers sell their clothes, usually at a good price. I’ve written a blog post on discussing my love for Depop if you want to hear more about why I use Depop!
But what are your opinions on shopping for clothes? Do you like clothes shopping IRL or are you an online kinda gal? Make sure to share this post and drop me a message either here, Twitter or Instagram with your thoughts!
I briefly touched on the high street too, so I think I might do a blog post on this soon? What are your thoughts?
